Raymond Clearwater Wall Art

Raymond Clearwater’s work has been described as dynamic and energetic. He has loved art all her life and can’t remember any day that he was not an artist. As a child he was raised on the museums of New York City which also shaped his life artistically. In the 1970s when he was still an adolescent, he explored the subculture of the SoHo Village, surrounding himself with the works of Basquait, Herring and Warhol. The artist medium drifted toward Gustav Klimt’s abstract work. Clearwater studied at Widener University, and while there, he immersed himself in the Brandywine Valley’s landscape, reconfirming his passion for the organic world. In the warmer summer months, the artist resides in the wine country of Burgenland, Austria. While in the cold winter months, he chooses to reside in Phoenix, Arizona. His theatrical modern-day artistry using warm and strong palettes, juxtaposing pattern and textures lends a comfy quality to his works of art.

Clearwater is able to incorporate into his art the experiences from his vast travels from crisscrossing the Sonoran Desert to cycling the jewel toned vibrant Burgenland’s countryside, amidst the sunflowers and wineries. His works have been characterized as expressive, yet structured and as strong, yet sensitive. His paintings have been sought after by private, institutional and corporate collectors worldwide. Clearwater’s artistry draws images from the organic world, bringing to mind a spirit of mystery and timelessness. His strong use of color, texture and balance is unique and adds to the quality to his paintings.
